French Press Brewing Guide
Tools Needed:
- French Press Brewer
- Freshly roasted coffee, ground coarse. Select french press grind when placing an order through our online store.
Step 1: Remove the lid and plunger. Measure out 1tb of coarsely ground coffee per 4oz of water, and place it in the empty carafe.
Step 3: Pour just enough water over the grounds to saturate them completely, allowing them to bloom. Stir grounds slowly, using a wooden or plastic utensil as to not cool down the coffee.
Step 4: Add remaining water, leaving enough room for the plunger to be placed on top. Place the plunger on top but do not press down.
Step 5: Allow the grounds to steep for 4 minutes.
Step 6: Slowly push the plunger down to separate the grounds from the coffee.
Step 2: Bring the water to 195-205 F, or the moment just before it reaches a boil.
Step 7: Slowly pour the coffees soon as you've pressed it into a preheated coffee cup. This is important as any remaining coffee left in the French Press will continue to brew, developing a bitter taste.
Notes:
- Use 1tb of coffee per 4oz of boiling water (amount may be adjusted to taste).
- Water temperature needs to be between 195-205 F.
- It is important to take apart your French Press and clean it regularly.
