Moka Pot Brewing Guide
Tools Needed:
- Moka Pot (6-cup)
- 2-3 rounded tb (20-22g) of freshly roasted coffee, ground fine or for espresso. When ordering online, specify this in the notes section.
Step 1: Use fine ground coffee. Select "Fine Grind" when ordering through our website.
Step 2: Dissassemble the moka pot into its three parts, and fill the base with water just below the fill line or valve.
Step 3: Fill the middle funnel section with grounds. Level them flat across the top but do not compress them. “Tamping” or packing the grounds densely will severely effect the brewing and create bitter coffee.
Step 4: Check that there are no grounds on the gasket before screwing on the top chamber to make sure it will seal properly. Any gaps will leak steam and fail to brew your coffee grounds up into the top chamber.
Step 5: Heat over low or medium heat roughly 2 minutes or until you hear a gurgling noise. That noise signals that the coffee has finished flowing up into the top chamber. Carefully watch and listen while brewing to prevent a burnt and bitter drink.
Step 6: Pour immediately into your cup to enjoy the fresh, rich flavor. For a smoother taste, stir the top chamber before serving to blend the brewed layers evenly
Notes:
Gas stoves are best for temperature control, but electric ones can be used as well.
If using an induction stove, you will need to use an adaptor.
