Wush Wush Ethiopian Coffee — Now Available
We’ve added something new to the shelf at Passport Coffee: Wush Wush, a rare Ethiopian varietal known for its distinctive, refined cup profile.
Some coffees are good. Some coffees are memorable. And then, once in a while, a coffee comes along that completely changes what you thought coffee could be. Wush Wush is that coffee.
Wush Wush originates from Ethiopia, widely recognized as the birthplace of coffee. This particular varietal is relatively uncommon, which makes it a standout offering for those interested in exploring more nuanced coffees.
In the cup, you can expect:
- Bright, fruit-forward notes like white peach and cherry
- Subtle floral characteristics like jasmine
- A clean, tea-like body
It’s a balanced, expressive coffee that highlights the complexity Ethiopian coffees are known for.
Rare Ethiopian Heirloom Variety
This rare Ethiopian heirloom variety is one of the most unique coffees we’ve brought in. Grown in the highlands of Ethiopia, where coffee’s story began. Wush Wush delivers a cup that is vibrant, layered, and unlike anything most people expect from coffee. It’s not just about quality; it’s about character.
What makes Wush Wush stand out immediately is its flavor profile. If you’re used to chocolatey, nutty coffees, this one takes a different path. Expect bright fruit notes, floral aromatics, and a natural sweetness that can come across as jam-like or even tropical. As the cup cools, the flavors continue to open up, creating a dynamic experience from the first sip to the last.
Part of what makes this coffee so special is its rarity. Wush Wush is a low-yield variety, meaning farmers produce it in much smaller quantities compared to more common coffees. That limited production, combined with careful cultivation and selective harvesting, results in a coffee that is truly small-lot and highly sought after. This isn’t commodity coffee, it’s intentional, from farm to cup.
The environment it’s grown in plays a major role in its complexity. High elevations, nutrient-rich soil, and slower cherry maturation allow the sugars and acids within the coffee to fully develop. The result is a brighter, more expressive cup with depth and clarity that reflects its origin
Brewing Recommendations
Wush Wush is approachable while still offering something a bit more layered than a traditional blend. It works especially well for those who enjoy lighter, more delicate profiles.
To bring out its best qualities, we recommend:
- Pour over (V60 or Chemex): highlights clarity and brightness
- AeroPress: produces a smooth, well-rounded cup Iced coffee: a great option in warmer weather, maintaining its structure and flavor
As always, using fresh grounds and quality water will make a noticeable difference.

Available Now
Wush Wush is now available at Passport Coffee in limited quantities. If you’re looking to try something new or expand your coffee rotation, this is a great place to start.
We’re always focused on sourcing coffees that offer something distinct, whether that’s through origin, varietal, or overall cup profile, and Wush Wush is a strong example of that approach. It’s the kind of coffee that rewards a slower, more intentional brew, but it’s just as enjoyable as part of your regular routine. If you’re curious about Ethiopian coffees or simply looking for a clean, expressive cup, we’d recommend giving this one a try while it’s here.
Because of its limited availability, this is a true “while supplies last” offering. Once it’s gone, it’s gone and the next lot will have its own unique character. That’s part of what makes coffees like this so exciting.
Wush Wush isn’t just another single origin. It’s a reminder that coffee can still surprise you and that some of the most memorable cups are the ones you didn’t see coming.
